Nike. NY Stands for New York.

As a citizen of Frankfurt, Germany, I don’t feel too sorry for the inhabitants of NYC (because actually it’s the coolest city on the planet). But it’s interesting to see how this hurt metropolis always reinvents itself to focus on the stuff that makes this city so unique. Wieden + Kennedy has created this great out door ad for the NY Yankees. Nothing else to add than ‘Great’. (Via AdFreak)

Nike. Introducing Football+.

Nike has just introduced a new sport feature called Nike Football+. At the first glance it looks like a retail orientated version of its award winning running program Nike+. Instead of Apple plus Nike (Nike+), personalization this time seems to go into another direction. What I understood is, you buy a pair of soccer boots, receive a code and then you can take part in some kind of ‘elite soccer program’ (whatever that means).

As usual the responsible agency is the communicative business transformers from AKQA. And well…Soccer+ doesn’t exactly look like the big community approach of Nike+ Running but it’s an interesting concept to intertwine products and exclusive digital content. Social CRM that is.

Nike SB. Today was a good day.

On days like these I feel like a granddaddy talking to his grandparents about the music back in the days. Nike SB has just published a very, very cool short clip for the launch of Paul Rodriguez‘s third shoe Zoom P-Rod III. It features skater god Rodriguez, his shoes and…Ice Cube. To all kids younger than 28: Ice Cube was a gangster rapper (a musicial style which was pretty popular in the mid 1990s) back in the days. His 1993 hit ‘Today was a good day’ was cut to make it fit into prime time TV and his short appearance gives the skater story a nice twist.

Well done, Nike. You made me think of the good old days when we still sang songs about dough, bling and AK-47s. So romantic! :-)
