Page. 10 Challenges that keep Creatives awake at Night.

This month’s issue of German design & advertising magazine Page has just been issued. And after my article about Amsterdam two months ago they asked me again to write for them and to answer one of the ’10 questions that drive creative nowadays’. I think I am about to become their digital guy. So if you cannot sleep at night because you do not know whether digital marketing from now on will just be a Facebook page. Find my answer to this question in this month’s Page.

Creative Briefs. Two Decks on making them evolve.

As a strategist it is kind of a fixation to think about creative briefs. Creative brief? Yes, a piece paper which traditionally is created by a strategist/client directore to serve as a guideline for the creative process. There are literally hundreds of these templates out there. Some are good and some are bad.

In fact, most creative briefs circulating in agencies nowadays are pretty old school. That’s not surprising. Most agencies are pretty old school in the first place, secondly all too often the briefing context is the key problem and not the template. Finally, the ownership over the document is frequently not shared among the different stakeholders. Stupid process that is.

Jasmin Cheng has pulled together quite a nice deck that collects a lot of thoughts about this problem.

But what do these thoughts mean for the future of the creative brief? Most briefs in fact feel like pre-war bombers on their way to Berlin while reality is on Tatooine already.

Wonderbra. Father and Son.

Wonderbra. Only few brands open a door to such a great world of imaginations like this one…especially when you’re a male creative. I found this beautiful print campaign by Publicis Conseil, France, for Wonderbra on the blog of my friends from Creative Criminials. Follow this link to see the full campaign.

Halo 3 ODST. Sometimes war is a video game.

welikeFor years Halo is among the few Game titles which kept up a very high level of creative excellence in marketing communication. Almost two years after the third sequel from Halo was published, Halo 3: ODST got into stores. The first-person shooter video game, developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft, was released on the Xbox 360 exclusively on September 22, 2009. Players assume the roles of elite human United Nations Space Command soldiers known as Orbital Drop Shock Troopers (ODSTs) during the events of Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Now watch this trailer by Bungie, pulling the Gamer into a Halo sequel presented like a classic war movie. Stunning! (Thx to Fubiz)
