Amsterdam DNA. City History Goes 3D.

As an Amsterdamer by choice I can hardly imagine anybody without a certain trace of local pride when it comes to this wonderful city. No matter if you live here for two weeks or your whole life: the citizens of Amsterdam know in what an exciting place rich in history they live.

Amsterdam DNA is a new exhibition in the Amsterdam Museum that takes the spectator on a three-dimensional 45-minute journey through the history of the City. The versatile story of the city is presented in seven intriguing films produced by PlusOne Amsterdam.

The first film is called Revolt. And it deals with the city’s struggle for freedom after the middle-ages. I am looking forward to the exhibition. Well done Guys.

Light and Magic. Prague celebrates The Orloj’s 600th Anniversary.

The Orloj is a medieval astronomical tower clock mounted to the southern wall of Prague’s Old City Hall. It consists of three main elements – the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details; “The Walk of the Apostles”, a clockwork hourly show of figures of the Apostles and other moving sculptures; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months (via Wikipedia).

To celebrate The Orloj’s 600th anniverary Czech motion design studio The Macula have mapped a stunning walk through the six centuries of history on the front of the old tower. I have rarely seen a more convincing light projection spectacle lately… (via Fubiz)

Awesome. @MotherNY says Hello to Hell’s Kitchen.

Awesome, Mother New York has just moved to NYC’s Hell’s Kitchen Neighborhood. And this is how they introduced themselves. With a couple of weird new business ideas which are all entitled Mother. How about a Seal-Burger?

Whatever. Remix something somewhere somehow.

Okay, this is maximum idiotic. Jesse Stills has created this piece of Remix-Mashup-Ambient-Locationbased-GPS-Whatever to do something. I don’t know what it does. But it is digital and weird. (Via Createdigitalmusic)

Event. Digital Strategy Workshop in Frankfurt.

As we watch digital media becoming vital for today’s marketing, one key question generally still seems to be unsolved: What is digitial planning? How do we define it? In how far is it different to classic planning in classic agencies? Together with a couple of colleagues who work in major digital agencies or as freelancers, we will try to answer this question.

On August 14th/15th, 2009 we will hold a workshop for senior planners from classic ad agencies in Frankfurt, Germany. The topic is “Strategic Planning for Digital Media” and the workshop will take place at Leo Burnett‘s office in Frankfurt. Hurry up to save your place for the workshop. Only 30 planners will be able to take part. Follow this link to find out more (in German)…
