So Sad. Goodbye Griffin Farley.

Many of my reader may have heard of Griffin Farley.

Griffin was Strategy Director at BBH New York and worked across a number of clients and brands in the U.S.

Griffin lost his fight against cancer yesterday after he was diagnosed with a tumor just seven months ago in June 2012. His family and friends tried to raise funds for Griffin to help support his recovery but apparently it was too late.

I never met Griffin in person. I was only connected to his brilliant ideas that he loved to share as one of the truly integrated and open Strategists of our era.

His website Propagation Planning is one of the most inspiring strategy blogs I came across in years. And most of his decks on Slideshare are examples of his exceptional skills to connect the new and the old marketing world. If there was any well known Strategist I would have loved to meet in person: Griffin would be it.

No doubt, many people will miss this talented Planner. And no doubt, BBH New York just lost one of their most skillful thinkers.

But in fact the people suffering most from this loss are probably Griffin's family - his wife, his two daughters, his brother and his sister. I have neither met Griffin nor any of his family. But my thoughts are with them. If there is anything I can contribute from halfway around the globe then probably just this one comment:

Griffin has been a great inspiration for me. I am deeply saddened by his loss. And I wish all of you the strength to get through this.

Thank you for such a nice tribute. My brother would have been humbled by your thoughts. He truly loved his job and loved sharing his ideas. Good luck to you in the future.

Hello Lisa Marie and my deep sympathies. As I said: I have neither met your brother, nor do I know your family. Apologies for not mentioning you.

I have had similar sad experiences in my own family. Fact is: there is nothing you can say as an outsider. Except: you will see better days. That’s for sure.

And I corrected my mistake. Apologies again.
