Breaking News. I am moving to Amsterdam.

Just a short personal note.

I am leaving Frankfurt and my employer Neue Digitale / Razorfish. I will move to a new position in Amsterdam, NL. This is going to be effective June 1st, 2010. And yes, this is soon. And yes, this is exciting.

Leaving a great team and starting off somewhere else is not one of the things I do regularly. I am pretty much the opposite of a job hopper and I like long-term relationships. Neue Digitale / Razorfish was my employer for more than four years now. And if there is one company which really got pretty close to being my family it is this agency.

I joined the guys at a time when it was a small independent hotshop. They were very specialized in Flash sites and won one award after another with projects for adidas, Coke and many many other brands. Four and a half years later the world around us has changed. Yes, most of it has become more complicated but also much more interesting, challenging and dynamic. Neue Digitale is now part of one of the world’s biggest digital network, Razorfish. And I am happy that I was part of the very interesting integration process as we all watched digital marketing growing up. An era of dynamic processes in which I was both, student and teacher in a more than fast moving environment.

No doubt, Amsterdam will be great. I am happy to take this next step with my girlfriend Marta who is moving with me. Both of us are quite excited and pretty busy in preparing the move to the Netherlands. Right now it’s another three weeks until we will finally hit Amsterdam and start living and working there. In June. How much better can it get? Sure we leave friends and great colleagues behind. But as most of them have already reserved a room in our not-even-existing appartment we will probably have to switch to running a hotel instead of doing our marketing jobs. I think by now we have agreed to host multiple friends every weekend in July…even though we don’t know where we will live by that point.

By the way. We can use a helping hand.

  • If you do know somebody in Amsterdam with a great appartment to rent? Please get us in touch.
  • You offer or know of a position for a very idea/concept-driven 360° Art Director? Do contact Marta Kalka

For us it is a very exciting time. Three weeks to go until we are in the middle of FEBO, Rijksmuseum and Amstel Pilsner – in one of the coolest places worldwide.

Goodbye Frankfurt. Goeden dag Amsterdam.

I'm a bit reluctant to press the Like-button as I'm going to miss you big times. It was an honor starting the whole social thing at ND/R with you. Nevertheless, here's to your future. Looking forward to the grand finale of our “Handkäs' talks” with more tears-soaking goodbyes :-)

Seconding Johannes there. Not sure whether I “like” you leaving us.

But either way, I wish Marta and you all the best and I'm looking forward to a great farewell party.

It's something like the classic prejudice. And yes, I think I will do it from there. :-)
