Mobile Apps. Reality as we like it.

Last week when I visited Paris together with my coworker Johannes we constantly tried to find new restaurants (food that means) via the amazing unlike app. In fact, iPhone apps make my life simpler, easier and more entertaining in a way. I can imagine a life without them, but I know it’s better when they are there.

Gravitytank, a Chicago-based growth and media consultancy has just conducted a study on the use of apps. Apart from the document they came up with this great 4-minute mini-documentary. It is drawn from the 20 ethnographies they did with app users. And they describe an interview process which took them from a perception about apps that evolved over the course of the study — from fun games to valuable tools that have a potentially profound impact on unexpected industries. Check out how people use apps and what they like or dislike about them.
